The Design for my Site I’ve Been Working on…

I’m in the middle of redesigning my website, and as you might have noticed (or maybe not), I’ve also been changing all my other sites to match with the new design (ex, this diary).
Usually I would have liked to make all the changes at once, transition immediately to a new design so that everything was seamless… But I decided after some thinking that that was silly. It takes far too long to make a new design, what with all the graphics, artwork, coding, etc that goes into it. I didn’t want to wait a half year before changing over, and I certainly didn’t want to have to rush to change everything at once. So I am slowly easing into it, when I can, as I have the time…
And I also decided that the whole “surprise” approach to posting news and art online for everyone to see is silly as well. I think I’d rather just post about it as I’m doing it, because frankly, it is extremely unsatisfying to spend a years time creating something, only to have a weeks time worth of “look at what i made!” before you feel like you’re spamming everyone and no one has an interest anymore anyway, haha.
So instead, I decided to just show you some of what I’ve made so far, and maybe more of it later, as it all comes together.

Preview video and other images after cut…

And as for my profiles, I’m trying to start updating some of the ones I intend to keep using, so yesterday was Flickr… And soon I’ll be trying to make my DeviantArt and Facebook look better. I feel like they’re all a total mess right now. It feels nice to finally get more organized.

A banner I made for my Flickr profile:

To tell you just a little bit of what I am going for with this design…
I of course have always loved Alice in Wonderland, American Mcgee’s Alice, Victorian era, and all girly and frilly things. So naturally I love doll houses, vintage patterns, dioramas, drawings and charts, etc. Well, I used to have a paper doll house (it was a haunted mansion, that I still can’t find anywhere) that I am seriously obsessed with, and I’ve been wanting to make a similar house for myself for a while now.
That will take more effort and time of course, but for now, I wanted to incorporate a dollhouse into my theme somehow. And when I came across these pretties from this store, I decided to make it the way you see in the preview video I made, simplistic and kind of creepy. For some reason the basic design of a dollhouse really stands out to me. I think that’s part of why I loved the movie The Ring so much, because of Samara’s creepy burnt into the wall barn loft bedroom. Such gorgeousness!

So I drew a burnt looking stark dollhouse in charcoal on 18×24 paper. Among other related things…

Here’s some examples of the aesthetic I’m interested in…

On another note, I just started watching Downton Abbey with Trev tonight, we’re on the second episode (so if you watch it, no spoilers please!)… I LOVE it. I love everything from that time period, it’s so interesting to me. Makes me want to read some more or watch some documentaries or something about the era. Such a gorgeous and strange time…
And, well, you know… McGonagall.

Old Photos I Found of Me and Fam

I found some photos I had taken a few years ago of old photos my mom had out when they were packing up the old house and getting ready to move…
All of these were from when I was young, like 10 and younger I’m guessing, although it’s hard for me to remember what ages these were.
I thought they were pretty cute and dorky so I decided to post them here.

Hopefully my family doesn’t mind, ‘cos they’re in a few… (I can take those down if you read this and do mind! Though you shouldn’t because they’re so cuuute.)

I’m the one in the white frilly dress. I actually really wish I had that dress now, it’s so cute, I would love to wear it! I’m here with my siblings and a girl we were friends with.

This is a doll I made out of wood and fabric. I actually remember making that doll and was REALLY proud of it and played with it quite a bit. Look at it’s grin, it was ugly.

I don’t know where I am here, but I like my look. : ) Haha. And my bathing suit. Rainbow leopard.

Here with my siblings and dad at the bank eating ice cream. My shoes! And socks! I don’t really dress differently even now… I don’t know why I seem like I’m posing in some of these. I was a super shy kid and didn’t act like outgoing enough to pose.

Playing a donkey with my sister in a church play. I’m the one looking away from the cam. I remember I really liked the costume because it felt snug.

At my grandparent’s old house (the one that was destroyed by hurricane Ivan) with my siblings and cousins. We had a lot of really good times there.
I’m the one in the yellow. I remember that watch I had on (and my cousin had one too), it was a Jurassic Park watch. I was OBSESSED with the raptors from Jurassic Park.

Here with my siblings and a batch of kittens we had.
For some reason I had chola lips, or at least what I thought were chola lips when I was like 9. I think I was really into lip liner but didn’t know any other tips for makeup. : S Hahah. My bro looks cute with his lollipop and kitten. : )

This was taken after coming home from our Wednesday night church service where we went to Awanas. It’s like a bible verse club thing, you learned bible verses and got fake money for it and at the end of the month or something you got to spend it in a little store they made for us. As you can see, I did very well this time around. Hence the “OMG LOOK AT ALL MY STUFF” look on my face, hahah. : D
That poster on the door is for 101 Dalmatians. : )

I’m not sure what we were doing here, maybe going to something for one of my siblings? I think it’s at a school, but not the one we attended… I was really into Roxy brand at this time in my life…

In the garden with my sister. I remember I used to think this shirt I had on was awesome, it was stretchy and tight and had dark blue chinese characters all over it. Who knows what it said, probably a bunch of random phrases and the days of the week or something. I thought it looked really good with my long black skirt. This was the days when everyone strived to look like those little cartoon dolls on websites, haha.

Me, my siblings, and a girl we were friends with, and our millions of cats. I’m the one with my hands at my head. My bro looks so cute with kittens held up to his face, haha. : )

At one time we had 14 cats total. Because they often had kittens and we had several that lived outside and some inside. We never didn’t have cats. Not ever. : )

One Christmas morning, I got gymnastics stacie doll and some Space Jam pjs, among other things.

Eating a sucker in my Space Jam pjs.

I have a few more that I haven’t edited yet (I took them in really bad lighting so I have to brighten them up). Maybe I can post them later. I wish I can scanned versions of this sort of stuff though.

Today I was supposed to go driving to practice, but I think I’m doing that tomorrow instead. So I’ll probably just waste away the day doing random things online. And maybe make baked potato soup for me and Trev and watch lots of Frasier.
I kind of have been feeling sickly all day, so I am pretty happy to be doing nothing today. That’s how weekends should be!
